At the game, and it got to cold for me to just stand around and watch it so I went to leave and my car wouldn't start.
When I open the door, no lights turn on. I put the key into the ignition and turned it. The result:
~Check Engine, Battery and Oil light flickered on, but Check Engine remained on.
~Radio flickered on then off
~Something made a strange grinding noise (cd player?)
I tried to jump start it, got a little more power (lights came on) but when trying to start it, only one heard a single click then it died (when the jump cables were at a real good connection)
The battery is brand new (2 months old). And my car is a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.4L
Suggestion:
No lights means you have a power issue. Possible causes, bad battery (happens even with newish batteries) discharged battery, – something is draining the battery or you left a light on, bad battery connections,- corrosion on the inside of the battery terminals,- bad ground.
Cold weather makes the engine harder to start – the oil is thicker, everything gets a bit stiffer. At the same time cold weather decreases the battery's ability to deliver power. Electricity in a battery is generated by a chemical reaction, the colder it is, the slower the reaction.
