If you people were around when Henry Ford put out his first ICE, You would say the same thing about it. Because that thing was Heavier then an electric car, Had less Range, Slower, and not near as efficient. We wouldn't FOR A FACT have the ICE car today. because you would throw it out the window and forget about it the minute the first prototype rolled out of the shop.
and before you start "OH THEY HAD ELECTRIC CARS BACK THEN HAR HAR HAR IM SO SMART" Well yes they did but it also got over taken by the ICE and wasn't given a second Chance. Most people hear "Electric car" and a big question mark pops up above their head.
You claim all this crap about "Charging (Lowest 4 Hours), Disposing of batteries (Which are 99% recyclable), Speed (Up too 150 mph), Range (300 Miles), Price (45,000 +) Right there half of your excuses were just blown out the window.
The points you have made are valid. solar panels to charge the electric car are a good way to go, but to be honest do we all need to drive around in 1 ton of machinery to get a product that weighs about 100Kg around town, i think for the most part we would all be better off keeping the car AND adding a small electric bicycle so that we can get around to do the little trips we so often do and keep the car for the long trips or for the shopping trip, it makes more sense to charge a small vehicle that can take you further at a reasonable price AND more importantly take traffic off our already over crowded roads. The issue here is that we like cars, some of the people want to drive 4WD and in some cases its practical to, but the car should be the second vehicle and the electric bike the first because if it runs out of electrical juice you can always pedal to recharge. Its what they are doing all over china and they are reliable and many of them, so why the dependency on a car 7 days a week, lets face it, cars are making people fat to and not enough fresh air so for my thinking its not just about the fuel is about good health, less crowded roads. I think if we can make them look like the original vespa of the 60s we can all go retro and look trendy to, i can see the hippie chicks digging this scene Yeh baby!! WE HAVE TO MARKET THE IDEA AND MAKE IT TRENDY thats all. GO GREEN GO COOL not GO GREEN SAVE THE PLANET thats just borrrring and most people given the choice will always opt to save money than save environment, i know i been in sales for the past 30 years, i can tell you when you talk about saving trees peoples eyes glaze over but when you say this will save you money and it has another benefit that it will work better to then they will go for it, its just human nature.

Shane you have given many of the problems with electric vehicles. You have also given the solutions. What you didn't cover were vested interests and peoples perceptions which the vested interests are using.
You can generate electricity off your roof. Good. Other than selling you the solar panels how is any large corporation going to make money off you. When Henry Ford first produced the model A it had a switch and two fuel tanks. One was for petrol the other was for moonshine (ethanol). The thoughts at the time were that people would produce their own fuel from farm waste. How was a corporation going to make money from that. When Rudolf Diesel invented the diesel engine it was running with peanut oil. Again it is easier to make money from a hole in the ground than a lot of farmers growing oil bearing plants.
The USA, INDIA and CHINA pump hundreds of millions of kg of co2 and other deadly gases into the atmosphere every single year, but if i buy a tree hugging prius and install a few low energy bulbs then all will be better. Fu**ing idiots. I love my V8
The majority of energy is spent in building a car and destroying it, electric cars are not built well enough right now to even pay for themselves in cost savings etc…before they are spent.
The environmentally correct thing to do is to drive an old car rather than scraping it and keep it going for as long as you can. Like they do in Mexico, South America and Cuba.
Of course you look classier in a Prius than you do in an old Buick. But $ per $ you will never save money buying a Prius other than feeling better about your carbon footprint.
I think electric cars are great. My dad owns a BMW Z3 that he converted to electric, and it's charged by our entirely-solar-powered house (so I can certainly confirm that solar panels are effective).
But you know, it's difficult to get anywhere by being accusatory. I've found that the best way to get people to agree is to calmly, politely explain to them your point of view, calmly, politely refute their points, and calmly, politely acknowledge that yes, improvements are needed, but no, it's not unfeasible.
That is not really true but in some case like dangerous gas emission from batteries and chemicals like acid used pollute environment.
