2) Engine stalls when running
3) Dash lights and instrument gauges work intermittently
4) Positive lead of battery terminal looks burned (about top 2 inches of cable)
5) I can drive the car about 100 feet before it quits

Suggestion:
You're alternator is probably shot. The alternator is responsible for supplying electricity to the car after it is already running and for charging the battery. After you jumpstart the car, the car is only running on the charge you just gave it, which doesn't last long. If you can do it yourself, take the alternator into a shop and have it tested. If you have an average car, you can pick up a new alternator at an auto parts store for somewhere in the neighborhood of $120.

sounds like you found your owen answer. start by replacing the battery and the cable before you blow out your ECM and then have real problems.
It sounds like you've had a slight problem for a while. You alternator, and your battery might both be bad, or at least getting weak and they are causing each other problems.
Put the battery on a charger and then start to car and take it to the parts store to check out the battery and the alternator.
