Suggestion:
Having the right aptitude is the most important factor, and if you have that then you're in the game. There's a lot to know. If this is your goal, the best thing to do it to check out your local community college & start with getting an associates degree in auto body repair. That'll get you going. I'd follow that up with a 2-yr general mechanics degree also. A lot of your classes will cross, and that 2nd degree will probably only take a year.
