Help with Algebra 2 Math Homework?

. Give instructions for graphing a line with the following characteristics:
a. a y-intercept of -8 and a slope of 3
b. an x-intercept of 4 and a slope 0f 1/2
c. a point on the graph is (1, -2) and the slope is -2
d. the line has the equation y=2.5x+6
e. the line has the equation 4x+2y=5

3. What is the slope of the line?
a. (if you cant read it the problem is y-2-3/4(x-1))
b. 3x-7y=14

4. Write an equation for a line with the following characteristics:
a. contains the point (-2, 5) and has a slope 9/13
b. contains the points (5, 7) and (-1, 25)

The Connecticut Speeding Function
5. The formula for calculating speeding fines on the interstate highway in Connecticut is f(s)=10(s-55)+40, where s is the speed of the car in miles per hour and f(s) is the fine.
a. Write the Connecticut Speeding Function in the slope-intercept form. Show your work.
b. What is the slope of the Connecticut Speeding Function? Explain what this slope means in the real world.
c. If a person was caught going 68 mph on the Connecticut interstate, what would the resulting fine be? Show your work.
d. Make a table of values for the Connecticut Speeding Function. (You may use your TI-Graph Link to paste your table into your Word doc.)
e. Sketch the graph of the Connecticut Speeding Function and state the viewing window. (Again, you may use the calculator and your Graph Link if you want.)
f. A person received a ticket for $200. How fast was this driver going?
6. Determine a formula for speeding fines in a small town in Illinois where the speed limit is 30 mpg. On a recent day, a $59 ticket was issued for driving 37 mph. A $95 ticket was issued for driving 95 mph. Assume the speeding fine varies linearly with the speed. Use your formula to determine the fine for driving 45 mph through this town.

I'm usually brilliant at math but lately I've been sick and can't think right.

Suggestion:

. Give instructions for graphing a line with the following characteristics:
a. a y-intercept of -8 and a slope of 3

That means
y = 3x – 8

when x = 0, y = -8 << that's point (0, -8)
when y = 0, x = 8/3 << that's point (8/3, 0)
Draw those points and connect the dots

- – - – -

b. an x-intercept of 4 and a slope of 1/2

That means point (4, 0) and slope of 1/2
y = (1/2)(x -4)

when x = 0, y = -2 << that's point (0, 2)
when y = 0, x = 4 << that's point (4, 0)
Draw those points and connect the dots
