Other notable inclusions in the top ten included the Batmobile, which garnered 4.5% of the vote, Gene Hunt’s Audi Quattro from Ashes to Ashes, followed close behind with 4.4%. It’s no surprise that the A Team’s GMC Vandura van wasn’t at the top of the most wanted list – such a bulky vehicle isn’t really the most practical car for UK roads.
Despite the fact that the KITT car has been away from British TV screens since 1986, almost a fifth of the British public still want a KITT car more than any other TV star car, which is quite impressive when you think of the some of the modern cars appearing in TV programmes at the moment.
It’s no surprise the Pontiac was the top choice with special features that included a Turbo Boost, which allowed an enormous burst of speed as well as the ability to leap over obstacles, and not forgetting of course the ability to drive itself!
Although most of us dream about owning such a legendary vehicle, the chance of this happening is pretty slim. Don’t feel too deflated though because Kwik Fit are running a new TV advert starring the Pontiac in its full glory, but unfortunately without the Hoffman, which means we will get the chance to witness the magnificent vehicle in its full glory. David White, customer services director at Kwik Fit says “we wanted to make an ad starring a car which is truly loved by British drivers”, so the KITT was the obvious choice topping the list of favourite UK TV cars.
