Can Dirty Transmission Fluid Cause a Car to Not Start?…or Could It Be Something Elese?
I have had my 2002 chevy Impala for a few months now and this problem just started happening yesterday. I went to turn my car on and it would not start. at first i thought the battery was dead because when I put the key in and turned it the lights in the car would flash and then everything would cut off again. so i waited about 20 min for someone to come and give me a jump and when he told me to pop my hood and put the car in neutral the car all of a sudden started…so now it has happened agian this morning and it always starts after you wait a few mins. but can someone help me out as to what could be happening. i went to get the oil changed a few days ago and was told i needed to get the transmission fluid change and it was really dirty!..so could that be the issue?….help please!:)
Suggestion:
no trans fluid is for the movement part of the car the engine is for starting the car. (if that makes sense to you the car can start without a transmission but it wont be able to move.) It sounds like you could have a couple of things wrong 1 you could have a loose or dirty battery cable clean and tighten it. 2 it could be an alternator get a shop to test it. 3. you could have a loose starter cable clean and tighten it. on a side note do not get the transmission power flushed make sure you say you want a "spill and fill" with a new filter. power flushes are known to cause transmissions to slip.

No trans fluid has nothing to do with starting the car.
