A Ride in the Mountains or a Ride to the Mechanic

What started out as an amazing family traditional ATV ride in Maryland ended up as a ride to the shop as our ATV CV joint broke on our second day out. Luckily we were in good hands and were able to get the part we needed quickly. We saved even more by buying aftermarket parts that were clean and in perfect condition, ready to go. What could have been a disaster turned into nothing more than an inconvenience.

Our family loves to ride our ATV’s together. We have enjoyed many memorable trips with extended family members to the mountains. We always have a designated cook for these trips and that duty rotates by families. It has become sort of a competition through the years to see who can dream up the best meals prepared in a trailer or tent. Nothing tastes as good as a meal cooked in a dutch oven or an open fire, anything taste better when you are camping. Something about the fresh air that works up an appetite.

This year was a reunion year and all the extended family was able to come. This added to the excitement in anticipation of the trip and also the dismay when one of our ATV’s went down. We carry spare parts that you might expect on a weekend expedition, but a CV joint certainly wasn’t one of these. It took less than a half day to get it repaired and we were all ready to go when the first waives of dinner floated through the camp. Thank goodness for good part stores, good machines, good food and best of all good families.
