2002 Dodge Caravan Are They Known for Electrical/computer Problems?

I am stuck out of town. Went to start my van to go home last night and the van won't start. We jumped the van and got it started but went to put it in gear and the gauges went crazy. Speedometer went all the way around, the windshield wipers turned on. It is Sunday so no car repair open so looks like I will have to stay out of town another night. Have any idea what the problem is?

Suggestion:

caravans are well known for electrical problems ,you may have lost a ground wire on it is the reason its acting like this though, one thing you can try on it is to remove both battery cables from it and touch both of them together at the same time that might reset what ever happened to it and this might get you back on the road again, it has worked a few times before, but have it checked once you get it home, make sure both cables are disconnected from the battery in it though when you do this on it,good luck with it.
